Over the past year of Stranger's existence, we have been very lucky to have some pretty cool people as customers. We thought that we would begin to profile them as well as the clothing they have picked up from the store and hopefully paint a small picture of the clientele that we have been building since our opening.
Today we cast the spotlight on Tola Ayanwale, "chewing gum Lagos girl" and housegirl at Nigerian fashion brand Grey.
CUSTOMER PROFILE 2 - TOLA AYANWALE, CHEWING GUM LAGOS GIRL
Stranger: What do you do for a living?
Tola: I work in advertising, moonlight in fashion.
Stranger: What are you wearing in this picture?
Tola: COS shirt, Grey skirt, Yohji Yamamoto jacket, Maison Martin Margiela pumps.
Stranger: Where do you look for inspiration lately?
Tola: I'm going to disappoint you here...i don't think about dressing up that way. however, when I'm in a rut, i look to MR, only for the headings and pictures. that humor gets lost on me 9.9 times out of 10.
Stranger: Favourite item of clothing picked up from Stranger.
Tola: Yohji top.
Stranger: Favourite item of clothing period.
Tola: I think it's this Preen sack dress i got at a local Dallas boutique's closing down sale in December 2008. all i can say is recessions are sometimes great. it just depends on what side of the wall you're on.
Stranger: Any favourite clothing brands?
Tola: I really like Reformation, even though i think it is way too expensive. COS holds a special place in my heart. Grey would be too obvious, but it's on my list. The Row, Mr Wang, and Maki.
Stranger: What do you want your choice of clothing to say about you?
Tola: That I showered. That's the least they can do.
